Draw a G-group Query in the CrossFire
Commander

|
- Double-click in
the structure area of the CrossFire commander
to open the CrossFire Structure Editor. Draw the parent by following either Step 2 or Step 3 below.

- Draw the indene
using the Ring tools. Using the Select tool, click the Benzene
ring tool. Click the Cyclopentene
tool. Click the dot in the center
of one of the doublebonds on the cyclopentene.
Drag the structure until it fuses to one of the doublebonds on the benzene.

- Draw the indene
using the Template file
tool. Using the Select tool, click the Template File button. Select File> Open and click Aromatic.BSD. Doubleclick 1H-indene to select it.

|
- Select the Edit tool.
- Click a carbon on
the benzene and drag to draw a bond.
- Click the carbon
at the end of the bond to access the Atom Attributes box.

- Type G1 into the box below Symbol. Click the checkbox for Set to Current to set the Edit
tool to G1.

|
- Click another
carbon in the benzene and drag to draw the G1-labled bond. Repeat for the remaining 2 carbons.
- Draw the
G-group. “X” is a predefined generic group meaning “halogen”. To draw the X, click anywhere near the parent
structure. Click the atom you
just drew so that you can change it.
Type X into the box
under Symbol in the Atom Attributes
box. Click OK.
